Airline History Museum
The 1986 "Save a Connie Foundation" is presently known as the Airline History Museum though the museum continues with its originally incorporated name. The Downtown airport at Kansas City is home to the museum. Dick McMahon and Larry A. Brown, the aviation enthusiasts are credited with the establishment of the foundation and several employees of the TWA, present as well as former have since joined the foundation. This museum deserves to figure on top of your Kansas City travel itinerary.

In the beginning, the foundation focused on aviation in the propeller age, but moved on to the jet age, particularly after the acquisition of Tristar. The foundation is poised for further expansion in the coming days.
Apart from Tristar which joined the museum in late April,2009 maintains three other aircrafts - The Lockheed Super G.Constellation, which is also fondly called the "Star of America", Martin 404 and Douglas DC-3. Of these the Martin 404 may not fly again due to financial issues and possible structure corrosion.
The DC-3 is in an advanced state of restoration but more donations are awaited before the aircraft can be declared airworthy. The Super Connie which also enjoys the distinction of being the first Constellation to be restored is airworthy but has not joined any air shows for some time now. While efforts to get the aircraft back to the air shows is on, no specific date has been set as yet. Meantime, the Tristar which has recently joined the museum will be used for educational purposes.
Visitors on Kansas City travel with avid interest in the history of aircrafts and the aviation industry can benefit from the offerings at the museum. The web links on this page are intended to help you appreciate the museum offerings in quick time.
