Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead has its origins in the petting zoo of 1978. In 1985 the Petting zoo became Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in honor of Deanna Rose, a Police officer of Overland Park who was killed while on duty.

Children of all ages will instantly fall in love with the farmstead for its butterfly gardens, nature trail, playgrounds, fishing pond, pony rides, rides on horse drawn wagons and much more. For the elder children and the parents, the sheer beauty of the environment and all that Mother Nature presents will occupy their time and this 12 acre facility has enough to keep them busy until the children are through with all their activities at the facility. This is thus one place you must have on your Kansas itinerary even when the Kansas City travel deals you are considering may have excluded.

Popularity of the farmstead is growing with each passing year and more and more people are coming to the farmstead. For some people, it is a memorial for their beloved and departed ones while others look at it as an agricultural theme park.

Admission to the farmstead is free. However, you should expect to spend $10 or more per person for the series of activities that the farmstead presents to its visitors.

Visitors also have the opportunity to go fishing at the fishing pond. The farmstead supplies the cane pole and worms for a small fee. Notice though that outside poles will not be allowed and the pond is on a 'catch and release' basis.

Deanna Rose is also in the process of adding a kitchen and other facilities so that you can organize birthday parties and other social events at the farmstead when you travel to Kansas City MO.
