Kansas City School District of the State of Missouri(KCMSD) is a school district with their headquarters at 1211 Mc Gee Street in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. This is the place where every student is provided with an environment that will be stimulative for pursuing higher education for obtaining family supporting employment and to contribute to the community, in the end have the fulfillment of living a rewarding life. The school aims to serve the local residents of the Kansas City.
The district was organized in the year 1867 initially serving nearly 2, 150 children has now developed to educate more than 17, 400 children and employ more than 3, 300 teachers and administrators. They provide a multicultural exposure to the students preparing them to face the world.
The KCMSD aims to achieve the mission by inculcating education through various processes like: inquiry based instruction involving active learning, project oriented, collaborative and student centered; successful instructional settings for the teachers to provide coaching efficiently; co-operative planning amongst principals and teachers; substantial autonomy and accountability for achieving and executing the school's district vision, goals, and objectives.
While the school district has a multi-ethnic community, the district has nearly 22 elementary schools, 6 high schools, the Afrikaan-Centered Education Collegium Campus in 4 locations and a Manual Career Technical center.
The district also has middle schools, alternative schools and early childhood centers. The KCMSD also owns a station from 1971 called the Kansas City Public Television. The vision and the mission of this district is now being successfully and efficiently brought to the forefront of the city and the public by the school district superintendent, Dr. John Covington, since 2009.
