Kansas City has a number of exciting tourist spots and attractions it is known for. One of these is that of the Powell Gardens. The Powel Gardens are basically botanical Gardens that have been built near Kansas City. Technically, they are situation in Kingsville, Missouri, which lies at a distance of 30 miles from Kansas City itself. However, the stunning beauty and vicinity of the gardens with Kansas City have earned it the honor of being listed as a Kansas City attraction and top spot.
The garden has been built on an area of 915 acres and is home to around 6000 species of plants. The seasonal collections often house as many as 225,000 different plants. One can visit the gardens during the daytime to explore the greenery and plant life firsthand.
The garden premises were established in the year 1948. Till the year 1988, when it was finally transformed into the present state, the site was used for a number of purposes.
The Powell Gardens include a number of different fractions, each with their own attractions. For example the Terrace beds and wall are usually decorated by the plants in season. The Conservatory is especially popular, spread over an area of 50 feet by 50 feet. The conservatory has tropical plants, poinsettias, the orchids of the season and chrysanthemums.
There is a special area known as the Dogwood Walk which is sprinkled by dozens of variety of the Dogwood flowering plant.
