Built in the year 1914, Union Station is a legend that has lived its illustrious history through periods of remarkable success over the decades. During the Second World War, Union Station facilitated more than a million passengers with one of the largest waiting rooms, cafes, tobacconist stores, salons, railway offices and many other facilities. Some of them have turned into marvelous antiques for show, while others remain in business at this legendary venue.

The great Union Station in Kansas City's West Pershing Road however had a bad phase in the 1980's when it found itself tied down by complicated strategies, bringing about demolition and major modifications in its well-known architecture. The stations renovation was most constructively undertaken in a bi-state effort in 1996, after which it stood as one of the grandest historic attractions in Kansas City by 1999. Ever since then, its fine restaurants, unique shops and traveling exhibits have reined the facility to a high position amongst ratings of favorite attractions in the city.

The station's popularity as a destination for travelers over its many decades has helped retain the stature of the place. The KC Rail Experience is one of the main features at the facility, providing an opportunity for visitors to gain hands-on experience of the age-old American Railroad experience.
