Kansas City Fountains

If you enjoy watching fountains by the dozens - nay by the hundreds in the same destination, you should be heading for Kansas City, Missouri. Though some people may argue that Rome is the City with the maximum number of fountains, while considering Kansas City travel deals, it is adequate to know that this City has the maximum number of fountains in the United States of America.

Over 250 fountains within a few square miles can best be experienced with naked eyes rather than any amount of articulation. Interestingly, the first of these fountains were built as back as in the 1800s, not primarily as a city attraction, but as clean drinking water provision for dogs and horses.

Given the magnitude of the task, on this page, we can only provide abstract information on some of the select fountains in Kansas City. Every single fountain in Kansas is a treat to your eyes.

The web links we have provided on this page will help you understand the distinct features of many of them, and some Kansas City travel packages can also bring you the details.

JC Nichols Memorial Fountain

You cannot help taking as many photographs of this fountain as you can, because that is what every visitor would like to. No wonder, therefore, that this is the most photographed and the most popular too. This fountain is dedicated to J.C.Nichols, known for developing the Country Club Plaza.

Muse of the Missouri Fountain

This represents the 30 foot high sculpture weighing 2500 lbs resting on its marble base. A special machine had to be employed to create the unusual bronze wire for the net. Water spewed by the fountain cascades into the 3 pools close to the intersection of Main Streets and the 9th street in Downtown Kansas City.

Henry Wollman Bloch Fountain

This is among the more recent additions in 2001 located between the Liberty Memorial Park and the Union Station building. More than 10,000 square foot of 2″ granite was brought from Canada for the water skin and water display areas. This fountain is best appreciated during the nights.
