The motto of the College of Ozarks since 1906 is to provide higher education to the one belonging to Christian community and doesn’t have the means to afford the higher education for themselves and the one who are deprived of education and are serious for their career plans.

The college entails the tagline of “Hard Work U.”, placing an importance on the student’s character education and dignity work in Branson.

The proposed establishment of the university began in the year 1901 with the footsteps of a high school by James Forsythe, pastor of the Forsyth, Missouri Presbyterian Church, and founder of the university.

The idea for such an institute cropped up in the mind of Forsythe when he encountered a boy on a squirrel hunt who expressed that his parents doesn’t have the means for sending him to high school, 40 miles away in Springfield, Missouri.

The university began in the form of School of the Ozarks on September 12, 1907 on a 75 by 50-foot building on the peaks of Mount Huggins. During the first admission season the school enrolled 180 students. The visit to this university may also be planned as a part of the Branson Missouri travel packages.
